Well, all in all it took a while to finally get in my dorm. The flights getting here were loud but otherwise sleep-able except the one where I was in the middle, I didn’t have anywhere to rest my head. Got here alive, that’s what counts (thank you God).
Snow isn’t very nice, maybe if its ice from a freezer crushed to incredibly tiny bits and then is coated thoroughly with syrup or multiple syrups. It’d be awesome; but no, snow is nasty, unforgiving, slushy, and there’s generally too friggin much of it.
So far the Cold has been okay to handle, with my jacket and a few layers, as most people wear up here. and inside I just dress the way I would if I was leaving my house back home. Until acclimatize, if that’ll ever happen. I’ll just keep wearing the layers, I wore socks to sleep for the first time in my life last night. Mostly I had this not-so-irrational fear of getting a chill from my feet and getting sick with some thing and dying. (Irrational or not you decide).
Here’s some good stuff, so on wednesday my dad and I go down to the AT&T a few blocks up. I’m pretty excited about buying my iphone. I have all the apps I want/need for it ready and sitting in itunes some already with a few updates to be had. We get there, tell the guy the plan and model I want (cheapest plan, 16GB model,Black). After he gets to the register he asks for my SSN, Social Security number… I tell him I don’t have one, and that I’m an international student. He replies with “Umm… you can’t open an account with out an SSN OR a deposti of 500 dollars.”. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have 500 smacks to give to anyone right now for a friggin deposit I’ll get back in a year. So, we do a dance of questions and answers for about 20 minutes. I actually leave and come back twice within these questions. It finally boils down to me having to use my aunt to make an account for me, adding me under that account as an authorized user and mailing me the phone when after she buys it. Which she said she’s gonna try to do today. As much of a pain in the ass as that is, my aunty is till willing to do it for me. This is what family is about. Then my dad and I are gonna send the cash she used back up to her. Then I’ll have to get the number changed for this area etc.
Well this so far has been my first week, and anything interesting in it. Nothing incredibly interesting, except man’s rival in life up here (snow). All in all my roomate(s) are pretty kool, the one that I’ve met in real life and the other on facebook. That’s all for now.
Peace.
